On 5 November Venus enters Capricorn. This year she does her retrograde thing while in Capricorn and as such, will be in the sign that tops the charts until March of next year - it could seem like forever. That is a long time for Venus in one sign, indeed. Here’s a thing to factor in with how you feel about Venus and Capricorn and their combination. Both hold feminine astrological qualities as Venus is who she is and Capricorn is a feminine sign. By those astro markers a layer of compatibility between the planet and the sign connects them, thus a supportive context.
As November evolves, on 14 November Venus squares Chiron in Aries. In financial circles there’s a term that refers to fixing up ones economic state: getting healthy. Then on 11 December Venus moves to her first of three conjunctions with Pluto in Capricorn. This is simple, sort of. You want what you want. You need what you need. Desire for money, power, success, acclaim, influence is what it is, but more it is what you perceive it to be. The goal of this Venus to Pluto triptych transit is for the psyche to align with desire and green light it as good. It’s where the soul agrees it’s absolutely fine to be in the body and for the ego to want what it does. It’s about making peace with resources and the use of those resources on all levels. It’s about dealing with desires that induce plutocracy in our world. It’s about greed as contrasted with generosity. It’s about how you intend to get yours and what you intend to do with it when you get it.
Venus retrograde commences on 19 December sneaking in a dash before the solstice. She is the planet least likely to be retrograde. Between 1700 and 2050, Venus retrogrades 7.23% of the time. For comparison, Pluto, with whom Venus now directly flirts, appears to be in reverse 44.12% during that same interval. Per the retrograde, pressure is added to any review already in play. Thus, real world considerations and personal desire thresholds overrun reflection and repose. Nearly obsessive, the urge to wrap around need and desire dominates the landscape.
As Christmas Eve to Christmas Day stroll by, Venus retrograde, engages Pluto for her second straight gaze into his penetrating eyes. It’s hard enough to know what you want let alone expecting someone else possessing the prescient capacity to perceive your holiday wish list. Gift cards might be an option instead of guesses. Of course the gift cards would need to be of sufficient value to buy what one really wants... the real deal with whistles and bells - the kind of stuff that’s too heavy for Santa’s helpers to carry. On the inner plane, this is about determining your threshold of gratitude and how that perceives gains made in life. Take time to get down in the trenches with yourself and assess and reassess what you’ve accomplished and what good you’ve gained whether on the mundane or in the galactic realms.
As 29 December arrives, Mercury moves into conjunction with Venus and Pluto. Here, it’s time to admit to yourself everything you need and want regardless of your opinion of those things. To thine own self be true, especially regarding all those things that secure your emotional nature in the realm of complete satisfaction, and in so doing, satiate and sustain the soul.
Not quite New Years Eve on 30 December Venus retrograde squares Eris in Aries for the second time. Again, ignore invitations for festivity that do not further your purposes and pay no attention to notable social invites not received. Reflect upon where and how you’ll work your way into beneficial inner circles next year and make that a significant part of your affirmation for the new year.
First up for Venus in the New Year, on 8 January the Sun in Capricorn sheds exacting light on Venus via conjunction. This transit marks the midpoint of the retrograde. Since the Sun is all about things being in the light and conscious, here it’s more than okay to dole out, and by dole with cautious attention to the responses of others. Those things you need and want, and more, what you intend to do about it this year, and to the point, what that might mean to this person in your life and how that relationship might be impacted requires honest discussion.
As the first month of next year concludes, on 29 January Venus in Capricorn turns direct. In this moment she forms a square to Chiron in Aries within two degrees of orb. Meanwhile, Mercury retrograde coincidentally conjoins Pluto. Now, you can be bolder with the expression of needs and wants with others. Since Mercury to Pluto is “tell the truth,” express everything you seek and better than a justification, relate how this seeking and attainment makes you well. What others think truly does not count.
For Valentine’s Day next year Venus and Mars stand conjunct in Capricorn, in fact, they are exact the next day. Here a curious thing happens. Normally Venus, the faster of the planets would move to catch up with Mars. Since Venus now moves slowly off her recent direct pivot, Mars catches up with Venus. He inspires instinctive reactions to things Capricorn and grabs everything he can, somewhat impulsively. Then Venus assesses and surmises that on some level what was grabbed must have been wanted or desired in an alternate consciousness realm. Whatever things appear before you next February, consider that the principles of universal attraction override conscious awareness. Make a point of graciousness. Be receptive. When good comes, embrace it and render thanks and appreciation. This is an “entitlement not tolerated” zone.
The conjunction in progress between Venus and Mars for all intents and purposes lasts more than three weeks. The alignment concludes on 6 March as Venus overtakes the lead from Mars on the day they both enter Aquarius. Think of it! Three whole weeks to seek out galactic goodness and mundane manifestations that possess purpose and contribute to your Planet Earth requirements and satisfaction as well as the fulfillment of all those soulful yearnings.
Soulful yearnings? Yep. Where you feel left out, unfulfilled, or denied. On 25 February Mars in Capricorn (let us remember Mars is considered to be exalted in Capricorn) squares Eris in Aries. Together they possess a reputation for disruption if unsatisfied. The next day Venus squares Eris. She suggests seeking satisfaction with full application of all known resources instead of resorting to mayhem. How cool is that?
On 3 March Venus conjoins Pluto, with Mars all in the late degrees of Capricorn. While cyber currency, the stock market, matters of taxation and the global economy may throw shade on a happy life, find your niche. Apply your creativity and assets with unlimited abandon. Proceed through any cauldron of chaos with calm, confidence, dignity, determination and personal excellence. In each situation proceed with the knowing that there is good to be gained and good for you to do and when you receive what comes, it will be great.
On 6 March Venus and Mars enter Aquarius. Venus passes by Mars and resumes her lead through the zodiac. It is time to take what you’ve acquired over the term of Venus in Capricorn and do good for the world - and yourself!
